Brand New Curriculum - 4 New Certifications


The first portion of the IT Essentials PC Hardware and Software course version 4.0 will prepare students for CompTIA's A+ certification Exam, an industry accepted certification for entrance into the information technology sector. The advanced portion of the program will prepare studets for three additional certification exams: IT Field Technician (220-602), Remote Support Technician (220-603) and Bench Technician (220-604).


The curriculum will provide students with hands-on experience in installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing computers. The skills and knowledge measured by this course are derived from an industry-wide and worldwide job task analysis which was validated through a survey of almost 2,000 A+ certified professionals. The intent is to certify individuals in a body of knowledge that is identified and accepted as the baseline or foundation of any entry-level PC technician. Curriculum topics include networking fundamentals, operating system fundamentals, assembling a computer, servers, multimedia, printers and troubleshooting hardware and software. The new curriculum adds the following topics: laptops, portable devices,wireless, security, communcication skills and virtual learning tools. In addition to an on-line curriculum, journal writing and hands-on labs, students assist faculty and staff with software and hardware problems by maintaining the L.E.H.S. Computer Help Desk.
