
World Languages - General Goals
1. Knowledge that communication is the best tool for understanding between peoples and language is the tool of
communication.
2. Use of language for better people to people relationships.
3. Preparation for a global society in which there is greater opportunity to use language in the foreign country.
4. Preparation for scientifically advanced civilization in which there is more “leisure time” study of language
and literature leading to a better use of leisure time.
5. Through study of literature, appreciation of human qualities of man. Awareness of universality in literature.
6. Appreciation of historical contribution of world languages to English.
7. Preparation for careers in which knowledge of a world language is a primary or adjunct skill or valuable
background.
8. Appreciation of place in society for person with wide variety of knowledge and cultural experiences.
