Classical Languages - Proficiency Guidelines

The expected outcomes in the area of reading, even for students who have completed only two years, are: the ability to read and understand materials of low difficulty—that is, adapted or simplified texts, and the ability to give a reasonably accurate account of the contents of the reading materials by answering questions, paraphrasing, translating, or summarizing. Students who continue through Latin 4 should be able to understand authentic unsimplified prose without reliance on a dictionary and be able to translate prose or property into reasonable accurate English. Grammar must be studied to assist in reading comprehension.
