Welcome to Lynn English High School

Lynn English is situated on a picturesque, tree-lined, landscaped lot of approximately 5 acres, adjoining a 21 acre field complex. The school is located in the midst of a middle-class, diverse, and multi-family neighborhood in the eastern section of the city. The school is within easy walking distance of bus and rail lines that connect the area to the rest of Lynn, Boston, and the surrounding communities.

The student population of the school, grades 9 through 12, is currently 1629. Reflecting the demographic trends of the city, the student body is comprised of 26% Caucasian, 48% Hispanic, 16% Black, and 8% Asian.

Lynn English has 1 principal, 3 vice principals, 8 department heads, 6 guidance counselors, 93 teachers, 1 librarian, and 3 paraprofessionals. All are working in tandem for the betterment and advancement of the student body.

Lynn English follows a modified-block waterfall schedule in a seven day cycle. The 90 minute long block allows teachers to plan and execute different strategies in the classroom. Within this schedule, the school offers Advanced Placement courses, Honors courses, and College Preparatory classes.

We also have extensive offerings of a variety of clubs and extracurricular activities, ranging from sports teams to academic clubs to the performing arts. An interest for each student is available.

Our commitment is to provide all students within a safe, supportive environment the opportunity to acquire 21st Century skills and knowledge in order to become effective life-long learners.

  • 2001-2011 MCJROTC named “Naval Honor” school in the Northeast Region of the United States
  • 2002 Lynn English students receive seven individual awards at the Johns Hopkins University Model United Nations Conference (Baltimore, MD)
  • 2003 Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MCJROTC) named “Best Marine Corps Junior ROTC in the Northeast Region of the United States”
  • 2006 MCJROTC National High School Drill Team Champions (both armed and unarmed divisions) MCJROTC named “Best Marine Corps Junior ROTC in the Northeast Region of the United States”
  • 2007 The Massachusetts Department of Education designated Lynn English a Compass School for outstanding improvement in student achievement
  • 2008 Lynn English achieved second highest increase of John & Abigail Adams Scholarships for Advanced scores on MCAS Lynn English earned a Bronze Medal from U.S. News & World Report for being one of America’s best high schools for academic achievement
  • 2009: Business Week designated Lynn English the “Best Low- Income Academic School in Massachusetts”
