It is the belief of the administrators and educators of Lynn
Public Schools that all students should have equal opportunity
to learn and that knowing English is the key to a successful
future in the United States. The philosophy of the Language
Support Program is to provide non-English speaking students
and limited-English proficient students with the skills
necessary to participate in the regular education classrooms
in the Lynn Public Schools. The primary goal of the bilingual
and ESL teachers is to facilitate the growth of English language
skills of limited-English proficient students by developing
fluency and literacy in English. Its secondary goal is to
enable and empower LEP students to function successfully
in the regular (monolingual English) classroom. A third
goal is to support English language development in the
content areas.
