Educational Talent Search at Lynn English High School - Information 
The goal of these Programs is to provide college admission and preparatory information, academic support, advising, career information, and college and career exploration opportunities to the economically and/or educationally disadvantaged. I have a M.Ed. from Boston University and a total of 20 years, prior to beginning with ETS, working in various counseling positions in public schools and with career education, school- to-work, and drop-out prevention grant projects at upper elementary, middle school, and high school levels. In addition, I have had adult clients as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor and as an Educational Counselor for the TRiO Educational Opportunity Center. About the ETS: ETS is a TRIO program funded by the US department of Education and administered by North Shore Community College. Mission of the ETS : Assist youths whose parents have low income and did not obtain a four-year college degree complete high school and gain access to higher education. Services include all of the following: Tutoring College Success seminar College Visits SAT prep courses One-on-one assistance with career exploration Admissions process and application assistance Workshops on college admissions and financial aid Advocacy Financial aid process and application assitance Supportive counseling To participate in the ETS, students or parents can contact the ETS office or one of the advisors listed below.                Scholarships
March 31 Thomas P. Maloney Rotary Club of Lynn Memorial Scholarship Criteria: financial need, perseverance in the face of hardship or personal challenges, demonstrated scholastic performance, character, community service, and extracurricular activities.

April 15 Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Educational Foundation Criteria: Reside within Essex, Middlesex or Suffolk counties; will be pursuing, full-time, education beyond the twelfth grade; and need additional financial assistance to continue your education.

April 15 Yawkey Scholars Program Criteria: a U.S. citizen; a resident of one of the following counties: Barnstable, MA; Bristol,MA; Duke, MA; Essex, MA; Middlesex, MA; Natucket, MA; Norfolk, MA; Plymouth, MA; Suffolk, MA; Worcester, MA or Georgetown, SC; graduating with a strong academic record; participating in a significant, meaningful mentoring program or relationship during high school that has contributed to the student’s ability to overcome challenging life circumstances, and planning to enroll fall term for the first time at a four year, private, accredited college or university located in Massachusetts

April 18 The Lique Human Services Scholarship Criteria: must be a high school senior; must intend to explore an interest in a field of human/community service, including social work, health care, counseling, and/or advocacy; must have a GPA of no less than 2.5.

April 30 Juvenile Aid Scholarship Organization Criteria: Juvenile Aid funds are set-aside for students with some religious education and a Jewish identity, who wishes to continue his/her education beyond High school but need financial assistance to do so.
