Program Description: The College Application Education Project, Inc. offers many resources to help middle school and high school students succeed. Students recieve tutoring in subjects with identified skill gaps determined through consultation with parents and teachers. Students also receive training in how to apply to college workshops with admission personnel and recieve career counseling in partnership with the Massachusetts Employment Commission. CAEP offers students opportunities for enrichment as they plan activities for peers and participate service projects.

March 31 Thomas P. Maloney Rotary Club of Lynn Memorial Scholarship Criteria: financial need, perseverance in the face of hardship or personal challenges, demonstrated scholastic performance, character, community service, and extracurricular activities.

March 31 The Syrian Lebanese Women’s Club of Greater Boston Criteria: an applicant must be recognized Arab descent (one or both parents must be of Arab origin); she must be a citizen or have permanent residency status in the U.S.; must reside within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and within a 50 mile radius of Boston; must be accepted at an accredited University or College

April 1 Pirandello Lyceum Scholarship Criteria: college-bound high school seniors with high academic averages, high SAT scores, involvement in extracurricular activities and financial need. We are also seeking students who have studied the Italian language, intend to study Italian in college or wish to spend their junior year abroad in Italy.

April 4 Boston Architectural College Summer Academy Scholarship Criteria: students entering grades 10 and higher who have a strong interest in architecture and related design professions. For application go to www.the-bac.edu/summer

April 4 Massachusetts Broadcasters Association Criteria: Students that will pursue an education in over-the-air broadcast journalism

April 14 Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship Criteria: A female student who wants to be a teacher; has shown good citizenship; entering either a 2-year or 4-year college; shows concern for others through school and/or community activities.

April 15 Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Educational Foundation Criteria: Reside within Essex, Middlesex or Suffolk counties; will be pursuing, full-time, education beyond the twelfth grade; and need additional financial assistance to continue your education.

April 15 Medco Labor Coalition Scholarship Criteria: High school seniors; must be natural children or legally adopted children of a current member of both the Medco Labor Coalition and a current subscriber and/or member of Medco; minimum GPA of 2.8; must be planning to attend or currently enrolled as full-time students in an accredited undergraduate program in pharmacy. April 15 Yawkey Scholars Program Criteria: a U.S. citizen; a resident of one of the following counties: Barnstable, MA; Bristol,MA; Duke, MA; Essex, MA; Middlesex, MA; Natucket, MA; Norfolk, MA; Plymouth, MA; Suffolk, MA; Worcester, MA or Georgetown, SC; graduating with a strong academic record; participating in a significant, meaningful mentoring program or relationship during high school that has contributed to the student’s ability to overcome challenging life circumstances, and planning to enroll fall term for the first time at a four year, private, accredited college or university located in Massachusetts. Sheckman Leadership Award Criteria: Students in grades 10 and 11, must demonstrate a commitment to his/her Jewish community, work to improve the quality of life for others; possess a desire to learn; and is a role model to his/her peers. This is not a monetary award, but rather the recipients receive a beautiful framed gift for this honor.

April 18 Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Newton Chapter’s Scholarship Criteria: must be an African American/Black woman or man who is a high school senior applying for Fall 2008 admission into an accredited four year college/university; grade point average must not be lower than B- for the cumulative period Grade 9 through the most recent grading period/semester

April 18 The Lique Human Services Scholarship Criteria: must be a high school senior; must intend to explore an interest in a field of human/community service, including social work, health care, counseling, and/or advocacy; must have a GPA of no less than 2.5.

April 22 Lynn Housing Authority & Neighborhood Development Scholarship Scholarship awards will be considered in each of the following categories: ·A high school seniors who is a Lynn resident · a high school senior who is a past or present participant of any Lynn Housing Authority & Neighborhood Development housing program ·a high school senior who is accepted into the education field.

May 1 LEHS Class of 2006 Community Scholarship Criteria: a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident; have attended English High for at least 2 years; accepted to a college, university, or training school/institution; GPA/class rank, after 3rd quarter in the middle half of the class; taken the College Board S.A.T.

May 1 Agganis Foundation Scholarship Criteria: reside or attend school in Lynn; participated in a minimum of one varsity sport (Note: for these purposes, cheerleading is not considered a sport); attend an MIAA member school at the time of application; be accepted at a four-year accredited college

May 1 Phillip Wood Memorial Scholarship Criteria: Awarded by the Essex County Fire Warden’s Association, to a qualified applicant graduating from high school, and seeking a degree in Forestry, Botany, Conservation, Wildlife Management, Fire Suppression and Prevention or a related field.

May 5 Sons of Italy Athlete Scholarship Criteria: Must be of Italian heritage and a member of the senior class, having played a varsity sport

May 7 Educational Communications Scholarship “William McGuinness-Martin J. Healey” Criteria: attended Lynn Public Schools for at least three years; demonstrated a commitment as a member of his/her school’s TV Studio; have participated in Channel 15 TV programming and plans on the continuation of an education in the “area of communications”

April 30 Juvenile Aid Scholarship Organization Criteria: Juvenile Aid funds are set-aside for students with some religious education and a Jewish identity, who wishes to continue his/her education beyond High school but need financial assistance to do so.

May 15 Demakis Memorial Scholarship Criteria: Applicant or parent/legal guardian must have been a CCU member since 2/13/05 or earlier; must be accepted by an accredited 4 year college in the United States

May 15 Massachusetts Arborists Association Gordon & Frances King Scholarship Criteria: Applicant must be an incoming student enrolling full-time in the four-year Urban Forestry program at Umass, or in the two year Arboriculture & Park Management program at the Stockbridge School of Agriculture; must complete first semester work with a GPA of 2.0 or better.

May 15 Shaw-Worth Memorial Scholarship Criteria: High school senior who has made a meaningful contribution to animal protection over a significant period of time

May 15 Mass Flower Growers’ Association Criteria: Applicant must major in a course of study in Floriculture, Horticulture or related agricultural sciences; must be a resident of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for a minimum of one year

May 19 Hispanic Scholarship Fund Criteria: must be a graduating, Lynn high school senior who is Hispanic or of Hispanic ancestry; must be a U.S. citizen or a U.S. permanent Resident residing in Lynn; must be accepted at a 2 or 4 year accredited institution as a full-time student

May 1 John Holland Memorial Scholarship Criteria: Female students accepted to an accredited institution of higher education; applicants must be a current member of their school’s 2008 women’s varsity softball team and their school must be participating in the 2008 John Holland Softball Tournament

May 11 McMahon Publishing Group Criteria: first child in your family to go to college; varsity athlete, male or female; financial need; graduate with a minimum “C” average or better; plan to attend a four-year state college or university; while in college, be a member of a varsity team each year to maintain the grant; transcript showing a minimum 2.0 or “C” average in the classroom each year.

July 1 Gerondelis Foundation, Inc Criteria: reside or attend school in Essex County ; rank in the upper fifteen percent of the class; achieved a combined verbal and math school of at least 12200 on the SAT 1; officially accepted to a four years college; and be of at least one-half Greek lineage

May 31 Chinese Historical Society Scholarship Criteria: Chinese ancestry; resident of a city or town in Eastern Massachusetts; acceptance to a college or university in New England

May 8 St. George P.T.A. Scholarship Criteria: student who are baptized in the Greek Orthodox Church & Communicants of St. George in Lynn; parent must be a member in good standing of both St. George Church and the St. George PTA

June 15 National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame of Massachusetts Criteria: Financial need; academic performance; leadership/peer group involvement; athletic involvement; essay content

May 9 Paul Cavanagh Scholarship Criteria: must have played a sport (cheerleading is included) at your high school for at least 3 out of 4 years; must be attending college in the fall; must be a Lynn resident for at least 3 school years; must be a female athlete

May 12 Michael J. Conlon Memorial Scholarship Criteria: a varsity-athlete, an excellent school citizen, an outstanding achiever in the classroom and an integral member of his high school community; has been accepted into a two or four year college and is in need of financial assistance.

June 1 Miss Massachusetts Teen USA Criteria: Must be single, (never married nor have given birth to a child,); a U.S. citizen and at least a six month resident of Massachusetts; must be at least 14 years of age and under 19 years of age to qualify

June 13 Making It Count Criteria: Applicant must participate in a Making College & Career Count presentation; must be a high school senior; must possess a cumulative GPA of at least a “B” or higher; must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident; must have plans to enroll in some type of formal education or training program following high school

April 30 Kayla’s Vision Criteria: available to blind or visually impaired students who will further their education at post secondary institutions

May 17 Pine Hill Civic Association Scholarship Program Criteria: All applicants must be the son or daughter, stepson or stepdaughter, or have their legal guardian be a current paid member of the Pine Hill Civic Association.

May 21 Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn Service Scholarship Criteria: students who demonstrate financial need; are of a minority race; are first-generation college students; OR have a proven record of commitment to community and/or social action
