Pledge of Membership

As a member of the National Technical Honor Society, I pledge to maintain the highest standard of personal conduct. I will apply myself to continue a record of scholastic achievement, and I will strive for excellence in all aspects of my education.

I will invest my talents, my skills and my knowledge in a career of my own choosing, and shall always endeavor to uphold my obligations as a citizen of my community and my country.

 

 

                                                                     

 

The colors of the National Technical Honor Society are silver, white and purple.

       Silver represents value and worth;   White represents truth and honesty;

                            Purple represents achievement and honor.

The official emblem is made up of a shield crossed by a scroll bearing the letter "NTHS" with the head of an American Bald Eagle and a wreath of seven stars circling the eagle's head.     The shield represents the individual member.

The line running through the shield represents a straight "plumb line" fundamental to building a life and career upon a foundation of excellence.

The Bald Eagle's head represents America and the individual's freedom of

career choice. The wreath of seven stars represents the seven attributes of the NTHS member: (skill, scholarship, honesty, responsibility, service, leadership, and citizenship)

                                      Induction Ceremony – February 17, 2005

 

On the stage or platform is a table with eight candles. One candle is a different color representing the light of knowledge. The other seven purple candles surround the silver candle and represent the seven attributes of membership -skill, honesty, service, responsibility, scholarship, citizenship, and leadership.

 

The goal of the National Technical Honor Society is to see that deserving technical students be recognized and that people of the community become aware of the talents and abilities of the young people and adults who choose technical education pathways to a successful future.

 

"In the center of the table is a lighted candle representing KNOWLEDGE. Knowledge is familiarity, awareness, or understanding gained through experience or study. This candle represents the knowledge you have gained through experience and study in your technical program."

 

"The first member attribute is SKILL.

"SKILL is the use of knowledge to develop great ability and expertness necessary to make a positive difference in a particular occupational field. I light this candle to represent skill.

 

"The second member attribute is HONESTY:

"HONESTY is the quality of being truthful, trustworthy, and fair with everyone while at work or play. Light this candle to represent honesty.

 

"The third member attribute is SERVICE.

"SERVICE is giving assistance and being ready and able to provide a helpful and useful act. Light this candle to represent service.”

 

"The fourth member attribute is RESPONSIBILITY.

"RESPONSIBILITY involves the ability to act without guidance or superior authority and being answerable for your actions. Light this candle to represent responsibility.”

 

"The fifth member attribute is SCHOLARSHIP

"SCHOLARSHIP is the distinctive mark of one who has mastered an area of learning, as reflected in the quality of his/her work, especially with respect to scope, thoroughness, and care. Light this candle to represent scholarship.”

"CITIZENSHIP is being entitled with full civil rights and exercising the duties, rights, and privileges of this status. Light this candle to represent citizenship.”

"LEADERSHIP is the responsibility of serving as a guiding force, and directing the way by going first with courage and confidence. Light this candle to represent leadership.”

Yelena Atlasevich – Yelena has completed her certification requirements in the Cisco Academy Adobe Web Design Program and has excelled in CAD and Pre-Engineering courses.  She is captain of varsity tennis, volunteers at local organizations and is a member of numerous clubs, such as the National Honor Society, Math Team, Mock Trial, Yearbook, History and Model U.N. Clubs and holds a part-time position in the pharmaceuticals field.

 

 

David Abraham Ayrikyan – David is currently completing his second-year requirements for the Certified Cisco Networking Associate (C.C.N.A) certification program, and after already completing Adobe Web Design certification requirements, he is utilizing his skills as an Academy Lab Intern. He volunteers locally, and is a   member of the indoor and outdoor track teams, Model UN, Math and Science Teams and the School Newspaper.

 

 

Zachary Williams Conway – Zachary has completed CAD and Pre-Engineering courses and has received may awards in the areas of leadership, ROTC, drama and academics. He is a three-year captain, All-star and MVP of varsity soccer, captain of indoor track and plays varsity lacrosse.  Zachary is a class officer and a member of the National Honor Society, Peer Mediation, TV, ROTC and Drama Clubs.

 

 

Joshua Mark Cronin – Joshua is completing his second-year requirements for the Certified Cisco Networking Associate (C.C.N.A) certification program, while simultaneously working on Adobe Web Design certification requirements. He has completed Honors courses in English, History and Science, and maintains a part time position, over thirty hours per week, in the retail field. Joshua will major in Computer Science.

 

 

Eric Richard DeStefano – Eric has completed CAD and Pre-Engineering courses and served as an Intern for the Lynn Public Schools Architectural Project. He has received numerous awards of achievement from ROTC, various academic areas and Boy Scouts of America. Eric plays varsity baseball and is a member of numerous clubs, such as the National Honor Society, T.V., History and Drama Clubs and is active in his church and community.

 

 

Alexander Stephen Forti – Alexander has completed CAD and Pre-Engineering courses and served as an Intern for the City of Lynn School Department. He is captain of varsity soccer and indoor track and is a member of numerous clubs, such as the National Honor Society, Math Team, Peer Mediation and Drama Clubs. He is involved with Lynn Youth Soccer and holds a part-time position in the retail field.

 

 

Elen Levoni Harutyunyan – Elen has completed courses in Pre-Engineering and CAD, completed a summer internship updating local school plans and is currently finishing her second year certification requirements for Cisco Networking (C.C.N.A.).  She is a member of numerous clubs, such as the Amnesty International, Peer Mediation, JRROTC Drill Team, Math Team and Model U.N. Clubs and holds a part-time position in retail.

 

 

Cortney Ann Lowe – Cortney is currently completing her second year of the Certified Cisco Networking Associate (C.C.N.A.) and the Hewlett Packard sponsored A+ certification preparation programs.  As one of our Tech Interns, Cortney maintains a Help Desk for faculty and staff , finds time to attend conferences, such as Business Women of the Year and technology and career-related seminars and she volunteers at numerous facilities in the community.

Cecilia Alejandra Lujan - Cecilia has as completed requirements in both CAD and Pre-Engineering courses and has excelled on standardized exams, such as the National Spanish exam. She is a member of numerous clubs, such as the National Honor Society, Class Officer, Year Book and School Newspaper Clubs, volunteers at local organizations and holds a part-time position relating to customer service.

 

 

Anna Meltser - Anna has completed her certification requirements in the Cisco Academy Adobe Web Design Program and has excelled in CAD and Pre-Engineering courses.  She has completed both Honors and Advanced Placement courses and is a member of numerous clubs, such as the National Honor Society, Peer Mediation, Yearbook and Model U.N. Clubs and holds a part-time position relating to customer service.

 

 

Michael James Orfanos – Michael is currently completing his second year of the Certified Cisco Networking Associate (C.C.N.A.) preparation program and has completed the Hewlett Packard sponsored A+ certification preparation program. For the two years, as a Head Tech Intern, he has maintained a Help Desk for faculty and staff. Michael is a captain and All-Star of varsity football and holds a part-time position in the food service field.

 

 

Lismary Rodriquez – Lismary has completed courses in Pre-Engineering and CAD. She has been a member of the varsity basketball, tennis and track teams, is a class officer, a peer mediator and mentor to freshman students. She has received various awards, performed community service while holding a part-time position in retail. She plans to attend college and major in Building Planning and Design.

 

 

Valerie Aleksandrouna Sapozhnikova – Valerie has completed her certification requirements in the Cisco Academy Adobe Web Design Program and has excelled in CAD and Pre-Engineering courses.  She has also completed a summer internship creating blueprints of local schools. Valerie is a member of numerous clubs, such as the Future Teachers’, T.V., Drama  and Model U.N. Clubs and holds a part-time position in the medical field.

 

 

Aurora Shahini – Aurora has completed her certification requirements in the Cisco Academy Adobe Web Design Program and has utilized those skills as Manager of our on-line virtual School Store, which can be found on the lynnenglish.org website. She has also completed Pre-Engineering and CAD courses and holds a part-time position in the retail field. Aurora plans to major in the medicine field. 

 

 

Ryan Eric Werner – Ryan has completed his certification requirements in the Cisco Academy Adobe Web Design Program and has utilized those skills as an Intern Web Assistant on the lynnenglish.org website and is currently working on certification requirements for Cisco Networking (C.C.N.A.).  He has also completed Honors courses in History and English, plays varsity lacrosse and holds a part-time position in the retail field.

 

 

John Wood– John has completed our two-year, Certified Cisco Networking Associate (C.C.N.A.) preparation program and is currently a Cisco Academy Lab Assistant. John is also completing Advanced Placement courses in Literature, Calculus, Statistics and Biology and has excelled in A.P. courses in English and History. John is a member the Latin/Certamen Team, Yearbook, Math and Quiz teams, School Band, and the National Honor Society.

Cesar Aquino, Fred Cole and Thomas Hogan.

 

 

Fred is currently completing his second year of the Certified Cisco Networking Associate (C.C.N.A.) preparation program, while Thomas and Cesar are currently completing their first year.  All three students have already completed the Hewlett Packard sponsored A+ certification preparation and for the past two years, as Tech Interns, they have maintained a Help Desk for faculty and staff to assist in computer related problems within the school. Thomas is currently finishing Adobe Web Design certification requirements, while Cesar is currently utilizing his web design skills in developing web pages for www.lynnenglish.org. Both Cesar and Thomas have paid internships at the M.I.S. Department of the Daily Item of Lynn. Fred has been enrolled in the Lynn English R.O.T.C. program for four years and has been a member of varsity, A.A.U, and American Legion baseball teams.
